Recently, we have encounter rumors about our site getting hacked or employees in our site have been involved with credit card fraud activities. We would like to ensure everyone those are not the case. To our knowledge, there was only 1 or 2 customer who complained about their credit cards had an attempt on fraud activities few days later after making purchase through FabulouStreet.com. But with Internet communication technologies stronger than ever, rumors spread out to customers very fast. This caused wrongful thinking of FabulouStreet.com was involved in any these activities. After our intensive check with our Credit card process company (Paypal.com, one of the biggest credit card process company.) They found that there was no suspicious activity on our customer records.
FabulouStreet.com also had SSL Certificate installed late last year, https is being use in the payment process. Theoretically, there is no way information can get decrypted even thought it got intercepted. Our IT company has checked the codes in our server and site, there was not any suspicious scripts or any files got modified. This ruled out the idea of our site was hacked.
As for FabulouStreet.com personnel involve with credit card activies, we wish customer understand following:
FabulouStreet.com currently payment acceptance process are following.
1) PayPal Payment Express: customers would complete the payment process on PayPal.com; means customers must enter CC info on PayPal.com. The chance of cracking PayPal.com is very low.
2) PayPal Web Payment Pro: customers would complete the payment process on Fabuloustreet.com, they would enter CC info on Fabuloustreet.com and send them to PayPal. PayPal receives the CC info and make the payment process and return to Fabuloustreet.com. As mentioned before, since SSL certificate was install, and HTTPS is being used in the payment process, theoretically, there is no way the CC info can got decrypted even thought it got intercepted.
No matter which payment method customers use, no complete Credit card number are store in our site. (only last 4 numbers.) We cannot see the complete CC number which is store in our system. That means, no one can get the complete Credit card info even our site was hack and log in for records. All Credit card information are send directly to Paypal.com during customers’ check out process.
As Paypal.com and our IT Company’s technician suggested. From the Internet security point of view, the only way to steal Credit card info is to plant some kind of spy wares, keystroke trackers, or malwares on effected users’ local machine. If that is the case, there is no way for FabulouStreet.com to prevent it since it is on the customer’s side.
If customers are not comfortable with making a purchase with direct credit card payment (Paypal Pro) Please feel free to use Paypal express payment by sending payment by Paypal. We understand there are few customers who are having problem with paypal.com address confirm . (This is a bug between site and paypal.com. It is currently being fix now.) You can also email us at sales@fabuloustreet.com for the item you want to purchase and we can send you an invoice via paypal to your email address. This way, we can ensure customers who does not have credit card can pay by paypal.com.
